Davey Ray Takes Corn Fest 50
8.18.08 by Ray Productions
Davey Ray continued his success Sunday night at Angell Park
Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI where he won the Corn Fest 50
event driving for John Jones in the No. 41 entry. The win
was the first victory for John Jones and his team, and their
excitement showed in victory lane.
The victory was hard fought as the feature was stalled by a
total of four yellows halting tough battles between Ray,
Jerry Coons Jr. and Tracy Hines. Ray, however, never fell
out of the top 4 throughout the entire 50 laps and lead laps
3-7 and then 36-50. Ray stayed strong to take the victory
with Mike Hess finishing in 2nd and Brad Kuhn in third.
Earlier in the night, with 24 cars in the
pits, Ray turned in a 9th quick qualifying time and finished
2nd in his heat.
Next race for Davey Ray will be Saturday and Sunday August
23rd-24th at Angell Park Speedway for the USAC/BMARA Hall of
Fame Midget Classic events where he will once again be
driving for the RFMS midget team. Ray would like to thank
John Jones and his crew for the great opportunity to drive
their car. Congratulations to Davey and the John Jones team
on their victory!

Ray Wins Round 3 of "Indiana
Midget Week"
Davey Ray completed a very successful "Indiana
Midget Week" competing with the best of the USAC
National Midget Series this past week.
Ray started off strong with a 3rd place finish
the first night at Gas City I-69 Speedway. The
Thursday night event at Union County Speedway
was cancelled, but on Friday night at
Bloomington Speedway, Ray topped the field and
won the 30 lap feature event over Brad Sweet and
Cole Whitt. Driving the No. 32 RFMS entry, Ray
led 26 laps to take the win that night and also
took the lead in the Indiana Midget Week point
standings for the 5 race series.
Saturday night's battle was at the new
Lawrenceburg Speedway where a slow qualifying run
set Ray up for a challenge in the feature
event. Ray started from the 10th
row and charged through the field to overtake
6th position. Half way through the event,
contact with the cushion in turn 3 and 4 would
knock Ray's tire off the bead lock wheel. The RFMS race team changed the tire and got Ray back
into battle at the next red flag condition. Ray
was 5 laps down when he re-entered the race but
managed to secure a 13th place finish to keep
him in the hunt of the point series battle.
Sunday night at Kokomo Speedway was the finale
for the week, and Ray was not giving up his hunt
for the series title. Ray started the feature
event from row 5 and quickly made his move to
the 4th position. On lap 13, there was a red
flag displayed which halted the racing. When
the field went back to green, Ray's engine
expired as he entered turn 3. The night was
over for Ray as he finished a disappointing 21st
place. Ray still managed to finish in the top 5
of the "Indiana Midget Week" point standings
despite the misfortune at 2 of the 5 race
events.
Ray and the RFMS team were very happy with their
debut together and proved to be a threat to win
every night of "Indiana Midget Week." Ray now
looks forward to up-coming USAC events scheduled
at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI on
August 23rd and 24th. Stay tuned to

Ray Enters
Week 2 of Madness
Davey Ray
is back from a very successful trip to 3 different states in 8
days. Ray racked up the miles as he competed at tracks
in Nebraska, Kansas and Wisconsin where he raced 7 times in 8
days. Ray was very pleased with his results earning 5 top 5
finishes. Ray's only finish out of the top 10 came when he blew
a tire at the first race while running 2nd.
The Belleville Midget Nationals were very exciting for the whole
team starting with hot laps on the first night of competition.
Problems with the ignition box prevented Ray from getting any
hot laps before he went out for qualifying. Ray turned in a
time of 18.067 placing him in 17th position and on the pole of
the first heat race. Ray led every lap of the heat earning him
a starting spot in the trophy dash. Ray, in the RFMS No. 32
entry, was just as fast in the dash as he again took the win in
that race putting him on the pole for the 25 lap feature event.
Ray would finish 4th in the first night of racing at the
Highbanks securing a starting spot in Saturday night's
Championship event.
On Saturday night, Ray was scheduled to run another dash which
included the top 6 transfer cars from Friday night's feature.
Ray tried some different lines in that race and ended up 6th at
the end of the 10 lap race. Starting from the 3rd row outside
in the feature, Ray was engaged in some tough battles between
the top 10 cars. When a caution flag flew on the 19th lap, Ray
made the decision to come in and change a right rear tire which
would place him in 21st starting position when the green flag
flew. For the next 21 laps, Ray carved through the field
passing cars on both the high and low groove. At the end of the
race, Ray earned himself a well deserved 7th place finish. The
charge from the back was a big challenge and was exciting for
all in attendance.
Ray is now gearing up for another week of 5 races in a row for
USAC's Indiana Midget Week. Ray will again drive the RFMS
midget this week starting on Wednesday at Gas City, IN. He will
then continue on to race track in the cities of Liberty,
Bloomington, Lawrenceburg, and Kokomo, IN. Stayed tuned for
updates throughout the week!

Builds Momentum for Belleville
As we enter
the last part of the big race week for Davey Ray, spirits are
high following great finishes in the No. 71 Kenny Love entry.
The team competed in 4 events in a row in Lincoln, NE, Rising
City, NE and finally 2 nights in McCool Junction, NE. The team
scored 3 top 5 finishes out of the 4 events run. It was a
grueling 4 days of competition and Davey is now enjoying a well
deserved day off until festivities start again on Friday, August
1st at the Belleville Highbanks. Ray will then jump behind the
wheel of the RFMS Spike Esslinger No. 32 car for the 31st Annual
Belleville Midget Nationals 2 day event. Ray plans to continue
his streak and hopes to improve a few positions to take home a
victory at the famed highbanks. Friday night starts off with
qualifying, heat races and the preliminary feature. On
Saturday, drivers will again qualify, run last chance races and
finish with the 40 lap Championship Feature event. Good
Luck Davey!!!
Ray
ends up 13th at Eagle Raceway
36 cars showed
up for the 5th Annual Kornhusker Midget Klassic at
Eagle Raceway in Lincoln, NE. Ray won his heat race in the
Kenny Love owned Spike Mopar No. 71x transferring him into the
30-lap A-Main. Ray started in the 7th position and
was on a mission passing cars on the dry slick surface. With
two laps to go, Ray was in 2nd and now chasing down
the pole sitter and leader, Jerry Coons, Jr. Ray blew a tire
ending his hunt for the win. He was scored 13th.
The next race for the Ray
will be at the Butler County Motorsplex in Rising City, NE in
the Kenny Love Spike Mopar No. 71x.
Davey Ray Gears Up for
Belleville Midget Nationals
By Ray Productions July 19, 2008
It's July and about mid-season for most race series, but Ray's schedule
isn't slowing down. In fact, he is facing what will probably be one of
the busiest weeks in midget racing. There's no doubt he's looking forward
to it.
For the first
part of the swing Ray will be driving for car owner Kenny Love of Lincoln,
NE, piloting a Spike chassis with Mopar power. The team will first
compete with the Southern Midget Racing Series (SMRS) at Eagle Raceway on
Sunday, July 27th. On Monday, July 28th they move on to Butler
County Motorsplex in Rising City, NE, and then it's off to McCool
Junction, NE to compete with the POWRi Midget Series at Junction Motor
Speedway on Tuesday July 29th and Wednesday July 30th. Ray is a past
winner at both Eagle Raceway and Junction Motor Speedway, winning the USAC
National feature at Eagle Raceway and the feature the next day at Junction
Motor Speedway in 2004.
The 31st
Annual Belleville Midget Nationals is scheduled for August 1st and 2nd
with the USAC National Midget Series. Ray will drive for Don Fike of RFMS
Racing in the Spike Esslinger No. 32 entry alongside A.J. Fike in the No.
69 entry. Ray and Fike are both tough competitors at the Belleville High
Banks, with Ray finishing in a close second place in 2005 and Fike winning
a preliminary event in 2001.
