Ray Looks for Better Luck
Davey Ray competed this
weekend at the BMARA event held at Charter Raceway park in
Beaver Dam, WI driving the #63 Paul Perkins owned midget. Ray
qualified 2nd quick with a time of 15.345. Ray then finished
4th in the heat race but unfortunately did not get to run the
dash because of motor complications. Ray did get to push off
for the feature event but once again suffered engine problems
forcing him to retire from the race after reaching a high of
6th place. Ray still sits 8th in overall BMARA season point
standings.
Ray
Scores Top 3 at Macon
Davey Ray competed in the O'Reilly POWRi National Midget
Series last weekend in the #2 Mark Bush entry. Drivers
earned passing points in the heat races to determine their
starting position in the feature event. In Ray's heat race,
he started 5th and quickly made his way to the front to win
the event. This hard charge in the heat race resulted in
Ray being the high point man for the night. For the feature
event, the top 6 high point drivers were inverted to much
delight of the fans. Ray picked off cars one by one while
patiently working the low side of the tight 1/5 mile dirt
track. Ray finished 3rd place, scoring his 5th top 5 of the
season so far.
This weekend, Ray will compete in the BMARA race at
the Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, WI. Ray will once
again drive the Paul Perkins owned #63 midget. Ray sits 8th
in the BMARA season point standings.
Ray Battles
in Badger Opener
Davey Ray started off the 2008 BMARA season this
past weekend at the Amsoil Sandbox Arena at Cedar Lake
Speedway in New Richmond, WI. The indoor dirt race was the
first midget event for the newly opened facility that hosts
weekly motocross races.
Ray's BMARA season was off to a rough start when he suffered
engine failure in the Mecum Racing #33 entry during practice
on Friday night. However, Saturday morning, Ray was
graciously offered the ride in the #63 midget owned by Paul
Perkins. Ray quickly adapted to the new ride turning in a 6th
place qualifying run. He would go on to win the heat race,
finish 5th in the dash and come away with an 8th place finish
in the 30 lap feature event.
For Sunday's program, the midgets again ran a complete show.
Ray qualified 13th to start off Sunday's event and would later
go on to win an exciting heat race beating Scott Hatton to the
finish on the last lap. Following the heat, Ray again found
himself in the dash where he finished third. As the laps
began to wind down in the feature event, Ray once again
battled with Hatton before retiring from the race due to front
suspension damage.
Davey would like to thank Paul Perkins for the great
opportunity to compete in his car for the weekend.
Ray is now seated 8th in overall season point standings going
into the season's second event on May 3rd at Charter Raceway
Park in Beaver Dam, WI.
